Language and French influence

The language spoken in Iran is called Farsi or Persian. It is an Indo-European language and while written with Arabic alphabet, it is not related to Arabic at all.

It was funny to me to hear some words that sound very similar to French.  French used to be the 1st foreign language 70 years ago. Many word in Farsi come from French: merci, terrasse, commode, rouge for the lipstick, rose for the flower, some countries like Autriche, Allemand, etc.
