I landed in Cairo without having planing that much what I gonna do in Egypt, I just had a cell friend of a Couchsurfer that I was supposed to meet at 10 pm! Coming out in the airport, thousand people run around you and propose their taxi. Every time I refused, they started to negotiate the price (~80 EGP) but it was not about the price, I just prefer to experience the public transportation. I appreciated to have my laptop with me and the free wifi in the airport, so that I figured out there should be a express bus service (35 EGP). Did not find it though, so when I asked for a bus, I did what advised: shuttle bus from terminal 3 to 1 and then the from the bus terminal the bus 356 to the city center. Only 2 EGP! First shock: so cheap (~ 0,26€). I asked one passenger in the bus and we started chatting. Very friendly, he even accompanied me to get out of the bus in the main station and take the metro to my destination point, close to the opera!
So I arrived in the couchsurfing weekly meeting. Very friendly people around there! And funny that some Egyptians were interested with German.
At 22:00, I finally walked to the point Nagui wrote me, a very nice bar in the center. I then met the 2 other CSers staying at his place: Philip, a New Zealand guy used to live in France but now in a huge bike trip through Africa; and Joshua, a US guy traveling in middle East between 2 jobs in Sudan and Irak!
