Ayutthaya and Sukhothai

Back in Bangkok, I just jump from the Airport to the train station and reach the old capital of Ayutthaya in the mid of the day. Ayutthaya is a nice city to go around with a bicycle, and offer many ruins of old temples. Really a taste of Bagan here, with red brick buildings!

The day after, I continue in Sukhothai which historically supplanted Ayutthaya as the capital. The historical park is 12km outside the new city and is again a little like Bagan.

We have a very nice journey there with a lovely bicycle ride around the temples! We because I meet again Aurélien (we were together in Bagan!) and his sister Géraldine. We spend the next days together. When we arrive in the park, we are shocked by the “Disney” like event around the old temples but finally enjoy this festival celebrating the King in the evening. A nice show with dancer and mahouts, who give us an impressive fake fight with their elephants!
